Let’s Walk Together partnership fronted by Jimmy Doherty
The Ramblers today launches Let’s Walk Together, a new online campaign to encourage people to pledge to walk in 2022, enjoying the simple pleasures and wellbeing boost of walking outdoors.
Following the recent explosion of interest in exploring Britain’s natural beauty on foot, the Let’s Walk Together campaign will be fronted by television presenter and farmer Jimmy Doherty. It will encourage people to pledge a certain number of miles that they will walk in 2022, emphasising that even a short stroll is every bit as important, and fun, as a five-mile hike.
People can pledge how many miles they are going to walk at www.letswalktogether.co.uk. Everyone pledging will be entered into a prize draw for a monthly prize of a £100 voucher for hiking gear or a main prize of £1,000 towards a walking holiday. The Let’s Walk Together microsite will raise awareness of the Ramblers’ work to protect, maintain and welcome everyone to the places we love to walk. It will also feature content inspiring walkers to get more out of their journeys.
Let’s Walk Together is part of a new, six-month content partnership between the Ramblers – Britain’s biggest walking community; special interest content and platform company Immediate Media Co, and independent creative media agency Love Sugar Science. The partnership will run from February to August 2022, with promotion across Immediate brands including BBC Countryfile magazine, BBC Wildlife magazine, BBC Good Food magazine, BBC Gardeners’ World magazine and 220 Triathlon. Let’s Walk Together will also be promoted across Immediate’s social media channels.
Carol Flint, Head of Brand at the Ramblers, says: “This media partnership will highlight the fantastic work that the Ramblers does protecting Britain’s paths, tracks and trails and making them accessible to everyone, which many people don’t know about. It will also help us reach new audiences of walkers from all backgrounds and levels of experience, encouraging them to enjoy the great outdoors their way.”
Jimmy Doherty, television presenter and farmer, says: “I think it’s important that we celebrate our countryside, and joining the Ramblers is a great way of doing that. Going through the countryside, through the highways and byways, the tracks and trails, walking along the rivers, are all a great way to engage with our natural environment. Also, the importance of outside activity has been really heightened since the pandemic. Not everyone wants to go to the gym or fork out for expensive equipment.
